The way this DSL hardware works is that it takes the incoming broadband signal and "routes" it to several numbers of incoming lines. This hardware is not required for you to have a DSL service. However, it is recommended that you buy this hardware if you have more than one computer, which you want to have an active broadband DSL connection.
