How do I move my virgin broadband from my old computer to my new one?

Can you answer Lornalou’s question about DSL?:

I’ve been given a Windows XP computer by a friend. My current PC is Windows 2000 and I am using Virgin Broadband with a speedtouch modem. I would like to keep my broadband package – how do I move just my broadband to the new PC without copying my entire profile across?

DSL Feedback: check you access mode ..ie. you are using windows dialer or pppoe of modem ..???..
or you can simply try this :
run command ipconfig /all note down ip address, default gateway, subnet mask and dns’s. put these values in your new comp. ping your modems ip from the new comp. by command ping ip_address_of_modem see the reply.
you should be able to browse the net.(IP address should not be same for any connected device )
you can use both the comp simultaneously too..use a switch if you dont have free ethernet ports with your modem/router.
