How can you change your DSL connection from one room to another?

Can you answer AHdri's question about DSL?:

My friend and I are switching his office from a back bedroom to one next door to it in the same house. We went into the crawl space above the rooms, tested to see where the phone line from the new room was, cut that line and then hooked the DSL line from the original connection into the same colored wires we cut from the connection to the new room. Guess what? No DSL signal. The wires are conected the exact same way (color wise) to the new jack as they were going to the old jack. Any ideas as to what we did wrong? And how to correct it? We are only moving over one room and don't really want to pay $100.00 to get theconnection moved over!

Have you located the DSL filters? The telco should have installed DSL filters in every room that was going to have a regular phone connection, but not on the jack that was going to have the computer connected.

Or they may have been able to install just one filter, as explained at the link below.

You will need to remove or bypass the filter.

go to radio shack or equivalent.purchase a junction box and some telephone wire and join and reroute the wires.
spicing and connecting as you did degraded the signal
