Can i modify a dsl router to accept broadband from a cable modem or cable, so i can use internet wirelessly?

Can you answer johnny5’s question about DSL?:

I had dsl in my old house and still have the free router, new place has cable internet and would like to know if there is any way to modify old dsl router to accept bb signal without having to buy a cable router?
