How do I get my bit torrent client to work on my newly installed adsl high speed service?

Can you answer Ken5’s question about DSL?:

I had dial up internet access and my bit torrent client worked but too slowly. Now with my newly upgraded adsl high speed internet access they don’t work at all.Nothing seems to work.If anyone has an idea what’s happening, please share. Thanks in advance.
I’ve tried changing the network setting in the control panel but to no avail.I do have internet access and can surf the net,but my bit torrent client can’t download or upload squat.

DSL Feedback: have you configured port forwarding (sometimes called virtual servers)?

that would be the first thing i would suggest, and i assume you have your computer plugged directly into the adsl modem w/out a router. if you do have a router though the source site i included should be able to help you either way. i believe that site came from a utorrent forum post by the way.

DSL Feedback: Check at this site to see if the port you have set in your bittorrent client is open (Success) or closed (Error):

If it is closed, then you need to clear your client through your software firewall and, if you have one, router.
Check the firewall help file for best way to clear that.
    For the router check portforward:
