Reliability Issues With High Speed Internet

Reliability has become synonymous with high speed internet. When most people choose to make the upgrade from dial-up access to high-speed, they do so because it’s faster and more reliable. For many customers, high-speed internet has become a necessity for work, and reliability issues were largely unacceptable. Dial-up had a huge number of access problems and speed issues associated with it, and that’s why we’ve seen a proliferation of high-speed access across the United States today.
Despite the advances made in high-speed internet technology however, problems with reliability still plague the market. DSL in particular has a number of limitations that new users are often faced with. One such issue is the “line noise” problem that those with older phone lines (often in rural areas) are faced with. Just as it sounds, the phone line suffers from interference that can result in data loss, or problems with DSL modem connectivity. Customers with these problems and other rural users may benefit from satellite internet technology – which eliminates the need for a land line entirely. In addition, DSL users are often saddled with the cost of the modem, in addition to telephone or long-distance “bundles” that may not be desired or needed.
Cable internet has become the norm for many US households, and resolved a number of the issues associated with DSL internet. It’s fast, generally reliable, and is subject to a minimal amount of digital interference. The only issue that is often experienced is the “reset dilemma” associated with cable modems. Users often have to reset the modem in to reestablish a connection. As with DSL however, most cable companies often require multiple services to be ordered to receive a preferred rate. Even more disheartening, cable providers often charge an extremely high price for TV service packages, even when bundled with other services.
Satellite internet broadband service eliminates nearly all of the issues associated with high-speed internet access in the US today. It only requires a clear view of the southern sky, making it ideal for rural users who may not have access to traditional utilities in the first place. In addition, satellite broadband is extremely fast, comparable with cable and faster than DSL service. In addition, most satellite internet providers don’t require additional “bundled services” to qualify. In fact, one can even replace their home phone with an internet-based IP phone service, as satellite broadband speeds are sufficient to handle an IP telephone line. It suffers from no “line noise” issues line DSL, and it’s proven to be extremely reliable in all areas of the country, even in inclement weather. For users seeking a service that doesn’t suffer from reliability issues, and does not require the purchase of services that aren’t needed – satellite internet might be the answer.
